National Mentoring Summit

Growing over the last three years to more than 650 attendees from government, civic, research, philanthropic, and corporate sectors, the National Mentoring Summit is an annual meeting that provides a platform to share innovative mentoring program models, examine new research, project future developments in the field, and ensure that more youth receive quality mentoring throughout America. Hosted by MENTOR: The National Mentoring Partnership, the Corporation for National and Community Service, Harvard School of Public Health, Office of Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention (OJJDP), and United Way, the Summit has brought together a variety of champions for mentoring including, but not limited to, First Lady Michelle Obama, Attorney General Eric Holder, Congressman Elijah Cummings, and esteemed mentoring researcher Dr. Jean Rhodes.

FirstPic, Inc. has supported this OJJDP endorsed event since the inaugural Summit with a variety of responsibilities:

  • Organized a series of presenters for workshops, including leaders from 4-H, Big Brothers Big Sisters of America, Boys & Girls Clubs of America, National Association of Police Athletic/Activities Leagues, OJJDP, and the U.S. Dream Academy.
  • Coordinated workshops in the following subject areas: strategic partnerships in mentoring initiatives, mentoring in Indian Country, mentoring youth of military families, STEM mentoring programs, and youth mentoring and in correctional facilities.
  • Managed transportation and logistics for mentor/mentee pairs attending the inaugural Summit.
